Khalil Gibran on Pain (The Prophet)

Posted February 22nd, 2012 by axl520 and filed in Uncategorized

www.pranasanayoga.com This poem of Khalil Gibran from The Prophet is a great reminder that pain is the divine taking us to a different dimension of life. We don’t need oppose and resist it. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. The only reason we suffer with our pain is that we don’t want to accept its existence and dont recognize its value. We think that pain is not fair, that we didnt deserve to experience it, that we are being punished for something we have not done. In truth, pain chooses us when it sees that we are ready for transformation. Music Spirit of Reiki (Healing Hands) by Oreade Music

@ritubahar جبران خليل جبران actually if you transliterate his name from the original arabic, i believe “kh” (as in the ch in the scottish pronounced “loch”)would be more correct than a hard “k”

This poet was known as Kahlil Gibran, not “Khalil Gibran”.
His brief biography mentioned in his book called ‘Spirits Rebellious’ clearly tells us how he suffered under orthodox sects in his times, and so how much time he had to spend in exile because his own people misunderstood and persecuted him. It’s only after his death that they felt safe to read some of his works. Like William Blake and Omar Khayyam, he co-created his own mythology. The images should therefore match his philosophy.

Wonderful, poignant, profound words. Take me back three years and this would have meant nothing – Now it speaks volumes to me. Love the words – “Pain chosses us when it sees we are ready for transformation”. Great Post.

When my sorrow was born, I watched over it with loving tenderness.
And my sorrow grew like all living things, strong and beautiful and full of wondrous delights.
And now I only remember my dead sorrow.
But memory is an autumn leaf that murmurs in the wind and then is heard no more!

    Peace & Love always.
