Your Four Intuitive Channels: Which Ones are You Using?

People often ask me how to become more aware of their intuitive abilities. They believe they have them, but they don’t know how to access them consciously.

Intuitive abilities are something that can be re-learned as adults. You can re-open the channels of your own psychic abilities. Cool, huh? Doreen Virtue, Ph.D., a well-known author, did it, as have many others. And I learned from Doreen how to do it.

In 2001, I was going through my very own personal trauma. My world, as I knew it, had collapsed around me. Little did I know it at the time, but I was “ripe for the pluckin’,” as I now like to call it. This means I was ready to learn, ready to connect to Spirit, ready to change my life. I was desperately seeking healing, emotional and spiritual, and I felt so incredibly lost.

One day in March, I picked up Doreen’s book, “The Lightworker’s Way”, and read it without putting it down, cover to cover. When I learned she also had trainings to learn how to communicate with the angelic realm (read here: opening up to your intuitive abilities), I knew beyond any shadow of a doubt I had to take her course. The next one was being offered in Miami in less than 2 months.

The problem was I had no money to pay for it. The fee was ,500 for the course itself, and then there were travel expenses (I lived in Virginia at the time) and hotel on top of that.

I decided to put my faith into action. I had a car I had been trying to sell for over two years. Even though I had advertised it over and over again, I had no takers. Nobody even called about it. I prayed and felt guided to try again. I promised that if I sold the car, I’d go to the training.

Within three weeks, the car sold. Not only did I have enough money for the training, but I had money left over! At the training, I learned that we have four intuitive channels: clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance. Most of us are stronger in one or two, but we all have all four. See which of these fit you.

1. Clairvoyance means “clear seeing”. This is the third eye chakra or energy center, located above your eyebrows close to the middle of your forehead. This energy center is responsible for the visions or visual pictures you receive from the Divine when you ask questions. You may receive picture flashes, or visions, or vivid dreams, like Allison on the TV show Medium.

2. Clairaudience means “clear hearing”. This is at the 5th chakra (energy center), located at your throat. There are also smaller chakras at your ears. Clairaudience is about communication, which is the 5th chakra’s job. Clairaudience doesn’t mean you literally hear someone speak out loud to you when you’re alone (although that can happen in some situations). Rather, when you ask a question to your guides or the Divine or the angels, you receive the answer in the form of words inside your head, as opposed to a vision, or a visual picture. Neale Donald Walsh, the author of the “Conversations with God” series, is a great example of a clairaudient.

3. Clairsentience means “clear feeling”. This is a 2nd chakra (energy center) job. The 2nd chakra is located just below your belly button, and it guides you in getting “gut” feelings about something. (Anybody watch NCIS? Gibbs always goes with his gut, and he’s always right. He has learned to trust his intuitive abilities.) Some people get a “hit” or a “clunk” in their bodies. Others get goosebumps, and “feel drawn to” or repelled by something or someone. Someone who is empathic (an empath) “takes on” another’s feeling experience. (Those of you who have worked with me know that sometimes I say in a session “I can feel that all the way down here!” This is an example of an empathic experience and an example of how I build my faith and trust in my own intuitive abilities.)

4. Claircognizance means “clear thinking”. This is a crown chakra (energy center) job. The crown chakra is located just where it sounds: the crown of the head. Someone who is claircognizant will “just know” something. They will frequently take right action, and have right timing, as well. Esther Hicks of Abraham-Hicks is a great example of one who is claircognizant. She says that Abraham “downloads” information to her in blocks and she just “knows” how to translate it.

Knowing what your intuitive channels are is important, because when you know, you can then begin to recognize how you receive messages from the Divine. (My two strongest channels are clairaudience and clairsentience. Claircognizance is next, and clairvoyance last.) When you know how you receive these messages, you can then begin to trust more and more the “hits” you receive. Even if you cannot make sense of them in the moment, you can begin to trust what you do receive.

And that, my dear friends, is very, very powerful!

• For it is in trusting your intuition that you are then able to know what your next right steps are to take on your path.

• It is in trusting your intuition that you will recognize the hand of the Divine guiding you toward your dreams and visions of your Divine life.

• And it is in trusting you intuition that you will move into alignment with that vision and then see it manifest.

Your Take Action Steps:

1. Determine what your intuitive channels are. Begin to recognize your hits. Keep a journal of your hits. (Don’t analyze them, just record them!) For example:

• Do you know who the person is who is calling on the phone before you pick up?

• Do you hear the whispers of Spirit inside telling you to go somewhere, or do something?

• Do you see how something is going to unfold before it does?

• Do you feel something when you walk into a room or meet someone?

2. Pay attention to these hits. And give yourself a pat on the back for recognizing them. The more you pay attention to them, the more you will grow in your ability to receive and recognize information intuitively.

3. Finally, here’s an affirmation Doreen used and I use consistently to anchor this skill. You can use it, as well. (In the beginning, I felt like I was lying, by the way. That’s how far away I was from being congruent with this affirmation. Now, it is true, true, true … but then? Aahhh, well … but that is the process, isn’t it?)

Intuitive Criteria to Consider When Searching for a Russian Woman

After getting my database pared down to a more manageable size, say five hundred to a thousand women, I then perused their pictures. Yeah, it isn’t quite as scientific, but at some level I had to find myself attracted to the women I wanted to meet.

I scanned the photos and when I found one that jumped out at me, I clicked on her photo and read her bio. Most on-line catalogues have a short biography of the woman that accompanies her picture. Each woman fills out the bio by herself, in her own words.

Usually the bio is translated from Russian, so it is important to try to understand what it is that she is trying to say. Elena Petrova does a great job of explaining what a Russian woman means by certain words she uses. Many words do not translate exactly from Russian to English.

I was most concerned about what each woman’s comments were. Did she sound positive or negative? Was she looking for someone like me? If she said she was looking for a thirty year old German, I didn’t select her no matter how beautiful she was, because I wasn’t what she was looking for.

It is not a good idea to pursue a woman who indicates she is looking for something other than what you have to offer.

There is probably nothing that you are going to be able to say in your letter that is going to convince her to throw out her dream of marrying a handsome athlete from Scandinavia and marry you, if you are an overweight couch potato from Cleveland.

Honor her wishes. If she says she is looking for a man up to age forty-five, don’t write to her if you are sixty.

I was looking for a woman to have children with. Did her bio say she wanted to have children like I did?

I am not that athletic. Was she looking for someone who wanted to go skiing every weekend? I like to travel. How did her interests match up with mine?

I scanned her face for an indication of her demeanor. Did she have a nice smile? It was my wife’s smile that was the main reason I picked her out of the catalogue of women.

Did she look haughty or arrogant or mean or disagreeable? If so, I moved on no matter how beautiful she was.

I have heard pros and cons to this approach. One big reason against using this method is that many of the women’s pictures are a product of the photographer taking the picture. In other words, maybe the photographer makes all of his subjects look arrogant, or haughty, or angry, et cetera.

Okay, I’ll go along with that. But many of the women have multiple pictures attached. Some are even pictures they took at home or on vacation. Don’t make a judgment about one picture. Look at them all. Try to get a feel for the person.

Look at her pictures and examine them in light of the comments she has made. Look at her as a whole rather than one single component or part.

Many websites show you how many times her address was retrieved. If a woman’s address was retrieved by a lot of guys (my criteria was over thirty), I didn’t select her because I didn’t want an unreasonable amount of competition.

You have a distinct advantage if you are one of a woman’s first correspondents. There is a certain amount of emotional investment that is required even in letter writing. If a woman is currently corresponding with a number of men, she is less likely to take on a new correspondent.

Find A Woman Who Has Just Signed Up With A Marriage Agency. When a woman signs up with a marriage agency, she is enthusiastic and has a desire to get results. She will have much more interest in correspondence than a woman who has just opened an introductory letter from her fiftieth suitor.

The women whose addresses were selected a lot were fairly predictable. They either were flashy looking long, wild, blond hair for example (knowing what I know about Russian women, there is a good chance it was dyed) or they had sexy pictures taken of themselves in a leopard skin leotard perhaps.

Many women pay the photographers at the marriage agencies around one hundred dollars for glamour photos. For good reason, they work.

Personally, I’m looking for more of an old fashioned girl. My wife sent in a photo someone had taken of her at work and a picture from her high school yearbook. She did not have professional photos taken. Because of that, she was not overwhelmed with letters, which was to my good fortune.

Look for the diamond in the rough. Look for the pretty girl with a nice personality — someone who you can live with for the rest of your life. Not a high fashion lingerie model.
